FAQs

  • If this is your first mountain bike lesson with me I recommend booking a 2 hour session. I always start with a short assessment and then we’ll hit the trails to start working on the skills you would like to improve on. If this is your second (or more!) lesson with me, I would recommend 1.5 or 2 hours.

  • Yes, you definitely can, but before doing so I would like to let you the following; I learned over the years of coaching that a private lesson longer than 2 hours can be very tiring and mentally exhausting. You will be doing a lot of repetitions, learning new information, and trying to learn new habits. After 2 hours we often get to the point where we need a little siesta :)

  • Yes! Please email me, even if your trip is a few months down the road, and I can accommodate your group!

  • Every skill level is welcome! I enjoy working with all different skill levels. I focus on guiding you to progress within your own ability, learn how to become a safer rider, and build confidence while we have fun riding.

  • You can book 2 to 3 months in advance and at the end of each month I will open up another month with my availability.

  • You should have a well-functioning bike with proper tire pressure, a helmet, water, gloves, elbow, and knee protection (your choice) , and a fully charged bike if you are riding an e-bike.

  • You can reschedule or cancel by using the confirmation email you received after booking.

  • I host Crank it Up MTB group clinics in the Spring and Fall. Summer time my schedule is fairly busy with joining the USA cycling team at races all over the globe!

  • Safety and making sure you have a great riding experience is key! If the weather throws a loop on us last minute, I am always flexible to reschedule your appointment or give you a full refund.

  • I like to coach from my own experience as a professional athlete. We have most fun when riding out on the trails, we progress faster on trail, nothing feels more natural then working on skills on trail and getting repetitions in.

I try not to overwhelm you with information, I rather work with video playback and work on the things you are struggling with. I always start progressing from your base-line. If you have some year of biking experience I do not need to explain you where your brakes are :) I would rather use that time to work on other skills. I have an open mind when it comes to coaching and love figuring out why you struggle with certain skills.

  • No, I do not use ramps and airbags. In my opinion they do not translate well to the real thing out on the trails.

  • My focus is on teaching you badass mountain bike skills and I am happy to show you the lay of the land while we work on skills, but I don’t offer guided rides.

  • I do not coach riders below the age of 12. I like to refer younger riders to Bike School Bentonville and Pedal Kids USA. They both offer great programs for the younger riders!

  • I do not. I advise them to use specific coaching platforms like PMBIA and get an official certification through them.
